Elementary overview (Grades K–5)

Imagine School Services has partnered with Accelerate Education to offer a K–5 curriculum for partners WITH our highly qualified teachers. The curriculum is delivered using Buzz, a different LMS than the 6–12 courses (you will learn how to navigate this as well).

Many of the roles and responsibilities are similar to the 6–12 model, however there is also the need for a Learning Coach. The Learning Coach is a dedicated person to work with the student each day and support their learning with the guidance of the virtual instructor. This learning coach is often times a parent or grandparent, but can be another adult that works with the student daily. The learning coach and the school mentor should NOT be the same person unless the online implementation is an in-class situation in which the students are attending their brick-and-mortar school every day.

Elementary teachers

Imagine Learning's elementary teachers work hard to ensure success for our youngest learners. They host virtual open houses for families, evaluate reading level, perform benchmark testing, etc. Just as in the traditional elementary classrooms, the teachers typically have the student for all of their courses. It is crucial for students to have dedicated learning coaches at home to help with uploading assignments and communicating with our teachers.

Key differences between 6–12 and Elementary programs

  • Required live/synchronous sessions in elementary school
  • Required to have a designated learning coach (often a parent) who supports the learner and works as a partner with the virtual instructor
  • Housed on a different platform (Buzz)
